Starting out in fitness

Three years ago, if you had told me that I was going to go to the gym, have a personal trainer and actually tried to get fit, I would have laughed in your face while eating another chocolate bar. 

Deciding to go to the gym was one of the best things I have ever done. It became my safe haven, somewhere I could escape to where I knew nobody could contact me and I could be left to my own devices; just the gym, my music and I. 

I was going for about a year on and off, and I realised that I wasn't pushing myself as much as I would like to. I needed a personal trainer. I have always been intimidated by PTs, I always thought of them as ex-marines from the army shouting 'get down and give me 10 more'  a lot of PT's can be quite arrogant, this I found out when I sadly dated one for a little while. Let's just say, that story didn't end well. However, if it's not an arrogant one you find, they are normally the most good looking, sculptured people around. I am not being shallow, but only making an observation.  I mean I wouldn't want to be sweating next to one (I, being shy and self conscious). 

Finding a PT is hard. You need to find someone who is patient, fun, will make you laugh and will make you feel comfortable when you getting down to some weird positions, going red in the face and sweating.  

This is where I introduce my PT; Troy. What can I say. He is the funniest and sweetest PT I have met to date. He doesn't make it easy for me, but he knows my limits too. He gives me new ways of pushing myself (without constantly shouting 'push push push', my biggest dislike of a PT), and even when I am having a bad day or week, I always feel better after a workout. Ok, maybe not always 100% as half the time I just want to collapse on the floor and not move. Every session we work on a different part of the body and then he surprises me with a circuit every now and then to see how I get on. Thanks Troy...ouch!!!!

Since meeting Troy, I am always in agony, not being able to move one part of my body or another, however I've noticed a different in my fitness and my body. 

Being somebody who use to hate the gym, or even working out, to now enjoying it, I would say I have made good progress. Having Troy has been a bonus and I cannot wait to continue working with him for as long as I can. The next thing I need to tackle is food. But that will be for the next post. 

Finding comfortable gear is always a a bonus, and actually, I've enjoyed shopping around for new sports gear. Although some can be quite pricey, the high street have designed some amazing pieces. I am not going to lie, that my favourite gym wear is leggings and a baggy t-shirt. I have never been comfortable with tight tops. My favourite selections are from Primark, H&M, Miss Guided and Lipsy. They have really created with the woman in mind, making pieces look stylish that you can just wear out, stylish but also comfortable when working out.

Fashion and the City

I'm not going to lie, I feel like I am having a Carrie Bradshaw moment while I type this next post. 

How amazing has fashion week been in all the major cities?? When I first penciled in that I was going to blog about fashion week, I was only going to write about London Fashion week, but having watched online and read on New York, Milan, Paris and London, I couldn't just stick to one. 

Of course my favourite designers will always be Chanel, Balenciaga and Alexander Wang. You can imagine my delight when I found out that Alexander Wang joined the Balenciaga team. The diversity within the different fashion houses were amazing, with colour and prints taking centre stage. I couldn't pick out a favourite as there were far too many to choose from. 

I love couture, but I particularly like fashion that you can wear on the street.  This is one of the reasons why I really enjoyed fashion week this year. Don't get me wrong, I would love to rock a Elie Saab gown (never say never...this is my wishful thinking talking), but I love putting outfits together. I would've loved to have been a stylist, just to be present with clothes. OK, you get the idea, I love clothes and fashion. 

I always think its important to be comfortable with what your wearing. Be proud of your figure and show it of in an amazing dress or jeans and leather jacket. My style has changed over the years, and I feel that I now know what I like, what suits me and what doesn't. Don't get me wrong, I do sometimes get it wrong, but that is all part of learning. My classic number is a skinny jean with a top and converse, although I feel that since starting this blog and as I want it to be a fashion blog, I am beginning to venture into new territory...in other words, step out of my comfort slightly and try new things.  

It got me thinking about outfits that I have worn over the last year and I decided to share just a few....all I need now is a catwalk!!

Happy Birthday to me!!!

Wow, I can't believe my blog is 1!!!! 



I have finally got the energy to write this, after battling a nasty cold the last few days. Trust it to be the post I have wanted to write the most is the one I have had to postpone. Ha!

Let's be honest, I didn't think I would stick it out. I mean, I love trying out new things but when I've tried something and I don't enjoy, I tend to give it up. But I have actually enjoyed blogging. Although I'm still finding the time part difficult (trust me, I'm working on it), I love diving into my own little space and sharing with you (even if it a small amount of you; thank you so much) my own views and things. 

Blogging came at an important time in my life. I had just broken up with the person I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with (I was with him for 8 years). I didn't know how to move forward or what I was going to do to help me find myself. 

My first stop was to join the gym. Once that had started, I then decided on changing my hair and add a bit of colour to it; I joined the dip-dye crew. I had always followed people's blogs and loved reading them, never thinking that I should ever do one, though always wanting to. Then after speaking to a friend of mine who has her own blog, we sat down together and created lilcrissyr

Due to my other job which is very demanding of my time, finding time to blog has been difficult and like I mentioned above, I will get there. But this little space of mine has been a salvation for me. I hope to create it into something that people will love and somewhere I can post much more. I have a list of things I am working on, but with me at the moment, it's all about time. 

Thank you to those of you who have taken the time to read what I say. I really do appreciate it and I am touched that people are actually looking. I hope it continues and that you carry on enjoying my lil world.
